The Boston Film/Video Foundation gave it's annual Vision Award to acclaimed fillmaker Mira Nair (Sallam Bombay, Kama Sutra). Originally from Uganda, Ms. Nair, of Indian heritage, makes films focusing on women and the roles they hold in societies that often regard them as second-class citizens, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Gill Sans was used as typeface as the font, designed by Eric Gill in the 1930s, was very much influenced by his love of Indian sculture, which informed much of his humanist lettering, illustration, and stone work. Orange is a ceremonial color used throughout the Indian sub-continent. Menhdi adminstered by a University of Texas Student we tracked down, who was part of the Indian Association. Gotta keep it authentic.
